Love My Hair was created on a dream in 2016 in Athlone…

I attended a course many moons ago were I was asked why I do what I do? Why not an office job? Why not retail or nursing?

I replied, ‘a smile’. It’s as simple as that! That smile you see when you reveal the colour or upstyle to a client is absolutely infectious. And it’s that, more than anything, is why I created our ‘Love My Hair’ space.

The name love my hair came from each and every client that would turn to me and say Oh my God ‘I LOVE MY HAIR’. That phrase has always struck a chord with me. The look on their faces and the happiness it brings gets me every time. We literally want people to love their hair!

Each and every stylist brings their own attributes to the family, with combined knowledge of 30 years. The expertise in almost every type of hair extension possible, Award Winning Bridal Upstyling, specialists in Balayage techniques and colour corrections.

We are always evolving as a team. One of the leading salons in Athlone to showcase their work on social media showing each stylists individual qualities and style.

TINA KIERNAN

Tina is the creator and founder of Love My Hair. She has worked in the hair industry for over 18 years boasting a large clientele from all of her years in athlone. She dreamed of creating a space to create and inspire beautiful hair. Tina has had the pleasure of training with some of the best educators in Alfaparf throughout her career.

I always believe in the power of self expression, whether it be through your clothes, style, music or your hair. That’s where i come in!

I needed to have a salon that was fun and relaxing. Where clients could come and feel like they’re popping round for a coffee and just happen to leave with amazing hair! Where the music flows and stylists are excited about their day ahead.

A place where we can support each other from taking over a blowdry to a question about a colour formula, mixing ratios or having a laugh at who put on the latest playlist. A place where clients are toe tapping or requesting their own playlist!

Tina

I love educating people on the simplest of ways to look after their hair from home and I beam when they make such an effort to call in and tell me their progress. I have trained with Alfaparf and have led the salon to win some amazing awards. My guilty pleasures include up-styling, transforming someone in a matter of minutes just like Cinderella going to a ball. I love pushing the boundaries of colour and creating living art through my job. I played rugby for 4 years, never went to college (if you dream it you can do it) I have 2 beautiful children. Cry like a baby to every concert I go to and my friends and I used to dress up as the spice girls and I was Mel B!

Laura

Hi, I’m Laura! Having lots of experience in all aspects of hairdressing, I have completed many courses in cutting, colour, highlights, bodywaves and creative up-styles. My profession allows me to be as creative as possible, which gives my clients a unique and personal experience so that they leave feeling amazing every time. Letting their hair do all the talking! Can’t cook, won’t cook, which is for your safety, but I can whip up a mean short cut. I run marathons in my spare time and love to dance, run and cycle…. well not all at the same time, but it always keeps my creative juices flowing for my beautiful clients!

Hi, I’m Christine. I have had a passion for hair since I can remember! I have 13 years of experience in the hair industry. I love all aspects of hairdressing from cutting and colour corrections to hair extensions. I definitely love mastering a challenge. Having moved home from Manchester after 8 years as my own boss I wanted to be close to home. My absolute favourites in hair include extensions, tapes are my fave! I love a juicy colour correction from time to time. I love 90’s music and I can be seen regularly bopping to the cheesy tunes in the salon and dancing like there’s no one in the room. Another passion I have is travelling as much as I can! I love being a part of this amazing group of ladies.

Nadia

My name’s Nadia. After taking a break from hairdressing, I joined the Love my Hair team and knew then that hairdressing was what I wanted to do. I went into hairdressing because I love helping people feel better about themselves. I love the chats throughout appointments. I have mastered blow-dries and up-styling. I am still in training and particularly love to learn everything about colour. I love learning, meeting new clients and the hustle and bustle in the salon. I am proud to be called the McGyver of the team! From building shelves to making a fort from the christmas sets…. short of wearing a tool belt to work. Anything he can do, I can do! Hope to see you in the salon soon!

I am the junior stylist at Love my Hair. I’ve been hairdressing for four years, with two years on the floor doing the works! I’m always training and up-skilling to keep up with the latest trends and styles. It was when I was doing my level 5 training that I came to Tina for work experience and I’ve been here ever since! I love making people feel good about themselves. My main goal is to give you the best experience while in my chair. I focus on keeping your hair in the best possible condition because healthy hair is good hair! I love my clients and they are the reason why my job is so enjoyable. Every day is a new learning day and I’ll always be here with a smile!

Junior Stylist

Carlana

I am Carlana and I’m the newest addition to Love My Hair. With two years experience on the salon floor, I have a passion for ALL things hair. From chatting to clients at the basin, my washing techniques are the most sought after in the salon. Something I absolutely love watching and learning on the floor and I have a special love for up-styles and blowdrying. Being part of Love My Hair will bring me so very far in my career and I am so excited to keep learning and being part of this wonderful team. I have a love of all things country music and have lashes that’ll blow you away. My bubbly personality has the girls laughing, I just need to master that big bad computer and then I will be flying!

Hannah

My name is Hannah and I have been hairdressing over 10 years. I started my journey with Fás where I completed a junior trade course while gaining experience in a salon. As soon as I finished the Junior course I then went into the senior course and completed that. Once I had finished I decided for a change and that’s where my journey with Love My Hair began! I kept up to date with all parts of styling and colour throughout my time in Love My Hair and I love to see a client’s eyes light up in the chair. A word of warning, if you’re not up for the chats and happen to end up in my chair please do warn me, as I have a tendency to burn the ear off you! …not with the hairdryer lol!

Sophie

My name is Sophie and I have been working in hairdressing salons since Transition Year. I have since gone through college to become a secondary school music teacher, but my love for hairdressing never left. I joined the beautiful, crazy and funny salon, Love My Hair, in 2018. My main role in the salon is to entertain everyone with my love of ABBA music, to perform super trouper whenever I get the chance and to make sure everyone knows that I love chocolate. I adore welcoming all our beautiful customers into the salon and making sure they have great fun. Even though I’ll be a full-time music teacher from January, I will never not be part of the love my hair crew; sure what would they do without Miss Super Trouper.

AWARDS

While we don’t like to brag, we do think we are pretty awesome. Over the years our business has been lucky enough to win a number of awards. We are proud owners of six prestigious awards to be exact.

The first awards was for Best New Business in the Westmeath’s Style awards. We then went onto win the Best Salon and Best In Bridal over the following two years.

We won, for two years running, the Oceanic Wedding Awards for Best in Bridal and I received the honor of winning Best Hairdresser in the Best in Midlands Awards in 2019. A pretty talented bunch all in all…
